01 The Concept.
This is an animation of an original poem inspired by the children's book, "The Missing Piece" by Shel Silverstein. This book inspired me, it showed me that growing doesn't need to be perfect. It can be painful and it can be hard, and that makes the growth even more beautiful. I wanted to communicate that message through a multimedia animation.
02 The Process.
This process began by writing the poem. A response to Shel Silverstein's book. I then sketched out a storyboard. This animation was made using Adobe After Effects, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Audition, and Adobe Animate. The illustrations were inspired by the imperfect, geometric quality of the book. The writing in the video is hand-written using procreate software. My goal was to make the words feel as though they were coming from a letter. The final video features original music created by Kai Tsao.

I edited the final video using Adobe After Effects.
